#2201 – “IN THE WORDS OF FREDERICK DOUGLASS”
In the 1960s, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the premier spokesman for the Black community, articulating the struggle for freedom and equality. Rev. King carried on the tradition of another eloquent voice for Black progress, Frederick Douglass. This edition relives the Black struggle to achieve the American dream in pictures and dramatic reenactments.

#2202 – “Y2K: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE?”
This program on the Y2K problem examines the best-case and worst-case scenarios as the country prepares for the new millennium.

#2203 – “THE SHACKLED IMMIGRANTS”
An exploratory examination of how slavery and racism impacted the social and economic progress of African-Americans as compared to other immigrant groups.

#2204 – "A SLICE OF AMERICANA”
In celebration of Black History Month, the series focuses on various aspects of the Black experience in America. One of the areas the program will examine is the history of African American pioneers.

#2205 – “THE WINNING SPIRIT”
Arthur Ashe, Jim Brown, Wilma Rudolph and Marcus Haines are all legends in the sports world. These renowned athletes are among the personalities profiled on this edition for their “winning spirit.”

#2206 – “LEGENDS OF COMEDY”
This program features a tribute to comedy with a litany of entertainers such as Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor, Dick Gregory, George Kirby, Nipsey Russell and Moms Mabley.

#2207 – “SHOULD WE FEAR THE POLICE?”
The killing of Amadou Diallo by New York City police officers has sparked a multitude of demonstrations and triggered renewed charges of police brutality in the African American community. A group of Black state troopers sought court protection that would enable them to speak out about racism within the ranks of the New Jersey State Police. This program examines the growing schism between the Black community and police.

#2208 – “HOW DOES A NATION ROT INSIDE?”
As the nation copes with the shootings in Littleton, Colorado and escalating violence in the nation’s schools, the question on the minds of many Americans is “Why?” A panel of experts explores this question and looks for answers to stem the tide of violence among America’s young people.

#2209 – “Y2K SURVIVAL”
A special Senate committee report indicates that a number of foreign countries and U. S. economic sectors are at significant risk for technological failures and business disruptions because of the Year 2000 computer problem. The report described the Y2K problem as “one of the most serious and potentially devastating events this nation has ever encountered.” Experts examine the national and global ramifications of Y2K.

#2210 – “Y2K: WHY WORRY?”
Do Americans have all the facts about the Year 2000 computer crisis? Can the public differentiate between fact and fallacy? What are community groups, businesses and governmental agencies doing to rectify the problem? This edition tackles these questions.

#2211 – “EVENTS THAT CHANGED AMERICA: ROOTS AND REVOLUTION”
African Americans have historically been on the fringes of society, but they have wrought major changes in this country. This program examines two phenomena that have shaped the course of American history. One was rooted in the precepts of liberty, freedom and justice. The other embraced the universality of the Black experience.

#2212 – “SONGS OF THE SPIRIT: PART I”
#2213 – “SONGS OF THE SPIRIT: PART II”

The popularity of nihilistic and satanic rock music has been blamed for the rise of violence among American youth. The influence of music in American culture is immeasurable. One case in point is the important role that Black sacred music has played in the survival of African Americans throughout their history. The evolution of music in the Black experience is rooted in the spiritual and captured in the songs for freedom.

#2214 – “GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN”
They are no longer with us, but their work and accomplishments are still impacting on the lives of the people that they touched. They are the heroes who turn into legends and forever etch their wonders in the annals of time and recesses of our memories.

#2215 – ”AMERICA’S FUTURE SPEAKS OUT: PART I”
#2216 – ”AMERICA’S FUTURE SPEAKS OUT: PART II”

Against the backdrop of an almost day-to-day occurrence of atrocities committed by youths, studies reveal that teenage pregnancy in the U.S. is at its lowest level in two decades. Another report revealed drug use among America’s youth is actually declining. Who are these people we call generation-X? What do these contradictory statistics say about them? Are they more disillusioned or more hopeful; better informed or out-of-touch; more virtuous or just scared straight? In a revealing two-part program, Tony Brown talks with a group of teenagers to find out their deepest and most intimate feelings about school, race, violence, crime, drugs and the future.

#2217 – “RACE AND Y2K”
While the private and public sectors debate the severity of Y2K on society, a study indicates that Blacks are more concerned than Whites about a possible meltdown of our global technological infrastructure. This program examines the rising concern that Y2K may cause an escalation of racial tension and hate crimes.

#2218 – “IS Y2K A LAUGHING MATTER?”
About three-fourths of the Fortune 500 companies experienced Y2K-related failures of their computer systems in the second quarter according to a CAP Gemini America study. How safe is the nation’s money in American banks? Dr. Howard Rubin, who conducted the study on the Y2K readiness of American companies, and Mike Griffin, a national spokesman for the American Bankers Association, discuss this issue.

#2219 – “WHICH IS WORSE: MOSQUITOES OR NERVE POISON?”
This program examines the controversy over the use of the pesticide Malathion during the mosquito-borne encephalitis outbreak in New York City in August 1999. Is spraying pesticide on concentrated population areas a wave of the future?

#2220 – “HYSTERICAL ENVIRONMENTAL TERRORISTS OR GOOD CITIZENS?”
Mayor Rudolph Giuliani of New York City named the critics of his spraying of Malathion, a nerve poison pesticide, on the populace of New York “hysterical environmental terrorists.” Or are they the only responsible citizens in town? This program examines that question.

#2221 – “DO POLLUTANTS AND PARASITES CAUSE ALL DISEASE?”
Do pollutants and/or parasites, working in tandem in the body, cause of all disease? According to Dr. Hulda Clark, author of The Cure For All Diseases, the normal suspects (lack of exercise, vitamins deficiencies, hormone levels, etc.) are not primary causative factors. She claims the cure is the electric and herbal treatment of parasites and the avoidance of pollutants.

#2222 – “SINGING THE MESSAGE OF HATE”
They are raising their voices in unison and their chilly chanting of “Sieg Heil!” and racism is growing louder and louder across the nation. Racism is finding a groove in “Hate Rock” among angry Whites who share a common hatred of Blacks, Jews, gays, new immigrants and other non-White ethnic groups.

#2223 – “AN OUTRAGEOUS PROGRAM TO CURE ALL DISEASES”
Would you go to the dentist to improve the condition of your prostate or to grow scalp hair? Is good health as simple as getting rid of parasites in your body and changing your environment? This program continues its examination of “outrageous solutions” to many health problems with Michael McElrea. Also appearing on the program is Dr. James Nabors, a dental surgeon from New York City.

#2224 – “CHARACTER VS. RACE: PART I”
#2225 – “CHARACTER VS. RACE: PART II”

Hampton University is one of the nation’s most prestigious historical Black universities. In 1999, it was cited as one of the top regional universities in the South. At the beginning of Hampton University’s 131st academic year, convocation speaker Tony Brown charged the student body to put character ahead of race. This two-part series also examines Hampton’s 131-year-old legacy.

#2226 – “FINISHING THE CENTURY: BLACKS IN THE ‘60s”
This program examines the turbulent 1960s as the nation moves into the 21st Century. The events of that era are chronicled through archival footage and rare interviews with the leaders of that period.
